PM Modi to visit HAL in Bengaluru tomorrow as firm eyes big orders
Pm modi’s visit comes at a time when hal has found itself in the spotlight after indian air force announced plans to buy more fighter jets, light combat helicopters (lch), and to upgrade its sukhoi-30s.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru on Saturday and is expected to review the functioning of the state-run plane maker and visit some of its manufacturing facilities, officials aware of the matter said on the eve of the high-profile visit.
The PM is likely to visit the production facility for the light combat aircraft (LCA) too, said the officials, asking not to be named.
Modi’s visit comes at a time when HAL has found itself in the spotlight after the Indian Air Force announced plans to buy more fighter jets, and light combat helicopters (LCH) and to upgrade its Sukhoi-30s. These potential contracts are worth billions of dollars.
HAL is also set to begin work on jointly designing and developing helicopter engines with French firm Safran and is negotiating a deal for the joint production of fighter jet engines in the country with US firm GE Aerospace.
HAL is preparing to activate new production lines in Nashik for the LCA Mk-1A and Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40) planes to meet IAF’s growing requirements for fighter jets and basic trainers, as previously reported by HT.
The new plant for the Mk-1As will enable HAL to advance the deliveries of the 83 such fighters ordered by IAF for Rs.48,000 crore in February 2021 by at least a year. Also, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari announced in October plans to order 97 more LCA Mk-1As at an estimated cost of ₹ 67,000 crore.
HAL has the capacity to build 16 LCA Mk-1As every year in Bengaluru, and the Nashik line will help the firm ramp up production to a total of 24 jets.
The company is also expecting an order for 156 LCHs from the armed forces. It has so far manufactured 15 limited series production (LSP) helicopters, and now, with the fresh order, series production will begin.
The order for upgrading IAF’s Sukhoi-30s is expected to be worth Rs.65,000 crore.
It will involve equipping the fighters with the indigenous Uttam active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, electronic warfare suites, weapon control systems, avionics and new weapons.
HAL also plans to create a new vertical to push exports as it pursues opportunities to sell fighter jets and helicopters to several countries, and the organisational restructuring will be carried out soon.
It has proposed setting up the vertical under a CEO-ranked officer who will report directly to the chairman. It is eyeing exports to countries including Argentina, Nigeria, Egypt and the Philippines, which are interested in the Mk-1A jets and the advanced light helicopter.

PM Modi to visit Russia from Oct 23 to 24 for BRICS summit, attend bilateral talks
Pm modi will visit russia from october 22-23 to attend the 16th brics summit. he will meet brics leaders for bilateral meetings during his upcoming visit..
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Russia from October 22-23 to attend the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan. He will visit the country at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During his two-day visit to the country, the prime minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with leaders of other BRICS nations. Apart from Russia and India, other countries that are also part of BRICS include Brazil, China, and South Africa.
PM Modi’s second visit to Russia this year
Notably, this will be PM Narendra Modi’s second visit to Russia this year. He visited the country in July for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi held a bilateral meeting with the Russian President. During his visit, PM Modi was also conferred with Russia’s highest civilian award, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle at the Kremlin. The two leaders also visited the Rosatom Pavilion at the VDNKh Exhibition Centre in Moscow.
A part from Putin, PM Narendra Modi may also have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. If both leaders meet, this would be the first time tha they will meet since Galwan issue in 2020. Recently, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi regarding the possibility of the meeting.
What is the theme?
Announcing PM Modi’s visit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday said that the theme of this year’s summit is “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security”.
“The summit will offer a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of initiatives launched by BRICS and to identify potential areas for future collaboration,” the MEA said in a statement.
Last month, Putin had extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi. He had also suggested October 22 as the date for a bilateral meeting between both leaders, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Putin referred to PM Modi as a “good friend during his invitation.” Putin’s remark had come during his meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval during the BRICS National Security Advisers’ meeting.
This year’s BRICS summit is special
After the expansion of the BRICS organization, the BRICS summit being held in Russia is being considered very important. Russia is constantly talking about the BRICS currency. It is believed that BRICS member countries can come up with an alternative currency to curb the US arbitrariness regarding the dollar. This is the first time since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war that such a big event is being organized in Russia. In view of the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Middle East conflict, the decisions taken in the BRICS summit will have far-reaching effects. More than fifty countries have expressed their desire to become members of BRICS. Five new member countries have joined this organization started by Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa. They are – Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates. This organization, which has 45 percent of the world’s population, has a 28 percent share in the global GDP.

PM Modi’s two-day visit to Karnataka: All you need to know
Dedicating india’s first air-conditioned railway station, 100 per cent electrification of konkan railway line and attending 8th international yoga day celebrations at mysore palace ground are a few in his itinerary.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Karnataka Monday and Tuesday to inaugurate a slew of programmes in Bengaluru such as dedicating India’s first air-conditioned railway station, 100 per cent electrification of Konkan railway line, launching 150 Technology Hubs, and attending 8th International Yoga Day celebrations in Mysuru.
After laying the foundation stone for multiple rail and road infrastructure projects Kommaghatta in Bengaluru, the PM will leave for Mysuru by air Monday to attend a public function at Maharaja’s College Ground.
PM in Bengaluru
In a step towards enhancing mobility and boosting connectivity in Bengaluru, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), which will connect the capital city with its suburbs and satellite townships. The project, which is to be built at a cost of over Rs 15,700 crore, envisages four corridors with a total route length of over 148 km. The Prime Minister will also lay the stone of redevelopment of Bengaluru Cantt. and Yesvantpur Junction railway station to be developed at a cost of around Rs 500 crore and Rs 375 crore respectively.
Another highlight of the event would be dedicating India’s first air-conditioned railway station – Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Station at Baiyappanahalli. It has been developed on the lines of a modern airport at a cost of Rs 315 crore. The Prime Minister will also flag off electric trains from Udupi, Madagaon and Ratnagiri as part of launching the 100 per cent electrification of the Konkan railway line (about 740 km) from Roha ( Maharashtra ) to Thokur ( Karnataka ). The electrification has been done at a cost of more than 1,280 crore. Modi will launch two railway line doubling projects – Arsikere to Tumkuru (around 96 km) and Yelahanka to Penukonda (around 120 km) – by flagging off passenger trains and MEMU service respectively.
During the programme, Modi will also lay the foundation stone of two sections of the Bengaluru Ring Road project to mitigate traffic congestion in the city. He will also lay the stone of other road projects such as six-laning of Nelamangala-Tumkur section of NH-48; widening of Punjalkatte-Charmadi section of NH-73; rehabilitation and upgradation of a section of NH-69. The cumulative cost to be incurred is about Rs 3,150 crore. He will also lay the stone of Multi Modal Logistics Park, which is being developed at Muddalinganahalli, about 40 km from Bengaluru at a cost of about Rs 1,800 crore. It will help in lowering the transportation, handling and secondary freight costs.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the new campus of Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) University, Bengaluru. The residential university was set up in 2017 in recognition of the exemplary contributions made by Dr B R Ambedkar towards the development of Independent India and as a tribute to his memory on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.
At BASE University, Modi will also inaugurate 150 ‘Technology Hubs’ that have been developed by transforming the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Karnataka. This unique initiative developed at a cost of over Rs 4,600 crore is supported by many industry partners. It aims to create a skilled workforce to address Industry 4.0 manpower needs. The Technology Hubs, through its various innovative courses, will provide high skill training in cutting-edge technology and improve opportunities for ITI graduates in employment and entrepreneurship.
At IISc Bengaluru, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Centre for Brain Research (CBR), the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister himself. The centre is developed as a one-of-its-kind research facility and focuses on conducting vital research to provide evidence-based public health interventions to manage age-related brain disorders. During the programme, PM Modi will also lay the stone for 832-bedded Bagchi Parthasarathy Multispecialty Hospital. The hospital, which will be a major fillip to clinical research in the country, will be developed on the IISc campus. It will help integrate science, engineering and medicine at the prestigious institute.
PM in Mysuru
At a public function at Maharaja’s College Ground, Mysuru Monday, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Coaching terminal for sub-urban traffic at Naganahalli Railway Station that will be developed at a cost of over Rs 480 crore. The terminal will also have a MEMU shed and will decongest the existing Mysuru Yard, facilitating running of more MEMU train services and long distance trains from Mysuru, improving both connectivity and tourism potential of the region. This will benefit the daily commuters as well as those travelling to long-distance destinations.
During the event, Modi will also launch ‘Centre of Excellence for persons with communication disorders’ at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH). It is equipped with state-of-the art laboratories and facilities for diagnosis, assessment and rehabilitation of persons with communication disorders.
On the occasion of 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY) Tuesday, PM Modi will participate along with thousands of participants in a Mass Yoga Demonstration at Mysore Palace ground, Mysuru. Integrating the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with celebrations of 8th IDY, Mass Yoga demonstrations will also be organised at 75 iconic locations across the country under the leadership of 75 Union Ministers, along with the Yoga Demonstration by the Prime Minister at Mysuru. The Yoga demonstrations will also be held by various educational, social, political, cultural, religious, corporate and other civil society organisations and will be attended by crores across the country.
The PM’s Yoga programme at Mysuru is also part of the novel programme ‘Guardian Yoga Ring’ which is a collaborative exercise between 79 countries and United Nations organisations along with Indian Missions abroad to illustrate Yoga’s unifying power that surpasses national boundaries. As the sun apparently moves from the east to the west across the world, the Mass Yoga Demonstrations in the participating countries, if seen from any one point on Earth, will seem to be happening one after the other, almost in tandem, thus underlining the concept of ‘One Sun, One Earth’. This innovative programme will be telecast live on DD India starting from 3 am IST (telecast from Fiji) till 10 pm IST (telecast from San Francisco, USA) Tuesday. The PM’s programme in Mysuru will be telecast live on DD India from 6:30am
Since 2015, the International Day of Yoga (IDY) has been celebrated worldwide on June 21 every year. The theme for this year’s Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The theme portrays how Yoga served humanity in alleviating the sufferings during Covid times.

PM Modi to visit Varanasi on Oct 20, lay foundation for 23 projects worth ₹1,300 crore
5 hours ago | Prime Minister Narendra Modi | Union Cabinet | Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on October 20 to lay the foundation stone for 23 development projects worth ₹1,300 crore.
Preparations are in full swing in Varanasi ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. Earlier this week, the Union Cabinet approved a major infrastructure initiative—a rail-cum-road bridge across the Ganga, connecting Varanasi and Chandauli districts. This project will feature a six-lane highway on the upper deck and a four-line railway track on the lower deck, marking a significant engineering feat.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi expressed his vision for Varanasi in a post on X, saying, “We are leaving no stone unturned for the comfort and convenience of the people of Kashi. A rail-road bridge over the Ganga has been approved, which will provide better connectivity for pilgrims, tourists, and locals while creating new opportunities for employment and business.”
The bridge project, with an estimated cost of ₹2,642 crore, is expected to be completed within four years. According to official reports, the initiative aims to improve logistical efficiency, enhance transportation networks, and boost economic growth by linking previously disconnected areas. The construction will generate employment equivalent to 10 lakh human-days, directly benefiting the region.
Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar India, these projects are designed to drive comprehensive regional development, fostering employment and self-employment opportunities.
Varanasi Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma confirmed the details of the upcoming visit, saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public program in Varanasi on October 20. He will lay the foundation stone for 23 projects and deliver an address to the people.”
