Which dragon reigns supreme?
It is me, or is it perfectly okay that 'Venom: The Last Dance' isn't good?
Unlike, the way I look at, say, most of the MCU and the DCEU, I don't feel that the Venom movies were really reaching for the kind of high-gravity goodness the others franchises were trying to achieve. I just don't know if that's the point. I always felt there was this strong '80s/'90s throwaway action vibe going on here combined with some very intentional wackiness from Tom Hardy and the other creative teams. Not saying they set out to make "bad movies" — just saying that quality may have taken second place to enjoyment and throwing goo-covered spaghetti against the wall as opposed to holding up some sort of shiny, polished standard. Yeah, 'Venom' was creaky, and I honestly can't remember much of 'Let There Be Carnage' outside of some wigs, but I just can't hold them accountable for their faults in the same way I do, say, 'Quantumania' or even 'Madame Web'. I just don't see why I would. They're more 'Action Jackson' than 'Terminator 2' if you get my drift. What do you think?
Jill Roberts is the best Ghostface in the Scream franchise
The Scream series has had its fair share of memorable killers, from the originals, Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard, to Laurie Metcalf and Jack Quaid. However, the best Ghostace in the series is Emma Roberts' Jill Roberts from Scream 4. Sidney's (Neve Campbell) niece turns out to be a psychopathic, fame-hungry murderer who is willing to do everything necessary to get under that spotlight. This twist is arguably the most surprising in the franchise, largely thanks to Roberts' casting. You might know her now for playing iconic mean girls like Chanel Oberlin and Madison Montgomery, but back in 2011, Roberts was the epitome of the girl next door, best known for projects like Unfabulous and Hotel for Dogs. Scream 4 changed the direction of her career, and audiences were more than a bit shocked to see she was so great at being bad. Plus, that scene where she hurts herself to make it seem as though Ghostface attacked her? Iconic, possibly the best sequence in the long-running franchise. What
'Scandal:' The White Hat of Political Dramas
When you think of the best political dramas ever to premier on the small screen, you have to rank ABC's Scandal near the top. Starring Kerry Washington in the career-making role as the iconic Olivia Pope, Scadal was, arguably, the closest in terms of ripping back the curtain and unveiling the corruption of power as any political drama that's come before, or after; and it made for riveting TV week-after-week. As great as (early) Grey's Anatomy and Bridgerton are, in my humble opinion, Scandal was Shonda Rhimes' best work. It truly had it all: characters you could truly invest in, tension that always kept you at the edge of your couch, and an overall storyline that was simply brilliant. When you think about it, Scandal was the perfect series for its time, and one that simply can't be replicated today. This is why Scandal will always be the "White Hat" of political dramas, and that hat should be worn with pride. So, what's your favorite political drama? I'd love to see what you all think
